Sustainability Practices

Only One Earth.

As the creator of Round Bird Print, I am a firm believer in the notion that there is only one planet from whence we've come. It's important to me to treat this planet well, which is why my shop is built on sustainable practices. I can make a difference in my community with sustainability.

Secondhand Finds Only.

All of Round Bird Print's hand-printed products are found secondhand at local thrift stores, consignment sales, and yard sales. Additionally, all secondhand products are chosen so they are made up of 10% fully synthetic fabrics* or less, meaning they're breathable and more durable. When the clothes last longer, the need for new products is reduced.

*Synthetic fabrics include polyester, spandex, and acrylic.

No AI.

AI "art" uses real artists' hard work to generate new images without crediting or benefitting the artist themselves. Additionally, generative AI uses a vast amount of electricity and freshwater for power and cooling respectively. I do not use generative AI to create art*.

*The non-product images on this site are antique, royalty-free artworks by real people and are available for the public to use.

Lino/Block Printing.

As art forms go, lino printing/block printing is exceptionally sustainable. The lino blocks I use are made from latex-free rubber, which is a renewable resource. Each block can be reused dozens of times in print.

Fair Pricing.

Too often, new clothing that is sustainably-produced and made from natural fibers is incredibly expensive for most people. I do my best to fairly price my clothing. While I do need to cover my own costs of production, I do not believe in extreme margins and want to make sustainable clothing accessible to more people. Additionally, I try and source a variety of clothing sizes to allow more people to enjoy sustainble fashion.
